Transit Field — privacy policy

In short

Transit Field is a work tool for transit agency staff surveying bus stops. It collects your location, the photos you take of stops, and your email address. All three are tied to your user account so a planner at your agency can see who recorded what. We don’t sell data, we don’t advertise, and there is no tracking or analytics SDK in the app.

You can use the app without an account

When you open Transit Field it starts in a public, read-only demo of a synthetic transit agency. No sign-in, and no personal data is collected in that mode — you can browse stops, open the survey form, and view the map without giving us anything. Everything below applies only once you sign in with an agency account.

What we collect

• Precise location. Used for two things: sorting the stop list by how close each stop is to you, and — when you choose to — comparing where you’re standing with where a stop’s coordinate is recorded, so you can propose a correction. Location is only read while the app is open and you have granted permission. It is never collected in the background. Coordinate corrections you submit record your account, so a planner reviewing them can see who reported the discrepancy.
• Photos you take. Photographs of bus stops, taken deliberately by you, to document the stop’s condition. They are resized on your device before upload, which also removes camera metadata such as embedded GPS coordinates. Stored privately — they are not publicly accessible and are served only to signed-in members of your agency.
• Your email address. Used to sign you in and to attribute your survey work.
• Survey answers you enter. Stop condition, amenities, accessibility notes.

The app does not collect contacts, health data, financial data, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or anything about other apps on your device.

Your agency owns the survey data

Stop surveys, photos, and coordinate proposals belong to the transit agency you work for. LMAi Labs stores and processes that data on the agency’s behalf and under its direction — we do not use it for our own purposes, and we do not share it between agencies. If you want your survey work corrected or removed, your agency can do it directly, or you can ask us and we will act on the agency’s instruction.

Data stored on your device

Transit Field is built to work without a signal. Your stop list and any surveys you record are saved locally on the phone and uploaded when a connection returns, so a shift in a dead zone isn’t lost. That local copy stays on your device until it syncs; deleting the app removes it.

Who else processes it

We use a small number of service providers to run the app, each handling data only to provide their service to us:

• Clerk — sign-in and account management.
• Vercel — application hosting and private photo storage.
• Neon — the database holding survey records.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Retention

Survey data is kept for as long as your agency keeps its account, because it is an operational record they rely on — stop inventories are used for maintenance planning and civil-rights reporting. When an agency closes its account, its data is deleted.

Your choices

You can revoke location or camera permission at any time in your phone’s settings; the app keeps working, minus those features. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email info@lmailabs.ai. Because your agency controls its own survey records, we will coordinate with them on requests that affect agency data.

Children

Transit Field is a workplace tool for transit agency staff. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes

If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and the date below before the change ships.
